  • dsp: fichier qui comporte les définition élémentaire du projet.
  • mak: identique à .dsp, mais utilisé dans les anciennes versions.
  • opt: fichier qui comporte les options de l'espace de travail (présentation, etc.).
  • dsw: fichier qui comporte les informations complémentaires de l'espace de travail, liste des projets, etc.
  • cpp: fichier source. On retrouve aussi les extensions .cxx en C++, et .c en C.
  • obj: généré lors de la création de l'exécutable, il est utilisé par l'éditeur de liens.
    C'est le code machine issu des fichiers source du programme.
  • ilk: fichier utilisé par l'éditeur de liens afin de reconstruire l'exécutable après avoir subi des modifications.
  • pch: fichier d'en-tête pré compilé, il accélère la création du programme.
  • pdb: fichier d'informations de déboguage.
  • ilb: informations de déboguage complémentaires.
