L'île de l'Ascension, en anglais Ascension Island, est une île de l'océan Atlantique sud, située dans l'hémisphère austral, juste au nord du 8e parallèle sud, entre l'Afrique et l'Amérique du Sud, à 1 538 kilomètres au sud-sud-ouest de Grand Cess, sur la côte méridionale du Liberia, et à 2 247 km à l'est de Ponta de Pedras, dans l'État de Pernambouc, au Brésil. Elle fait partie du territoire britannique d'outre-mer de Sainte-Hélène, Ascension et Tristan da Cunha. La capitale de l'île est Georgetown.

Île Ascension Island couvre une superficie de 91i  km2 avec une population de 880i habitants (2018), soit densité de 9.67 habitants par Km2.
