Album n°11 dans la série Before Watchmen
Dans le New York des années '70, les barons du crime organisé règnent en maître. Rorschach lutte sans relâche contre la recrudescence des activités criminelles dans les rues de sa ville. Ce faisant, il est rapidement pris pour cible par un chef de gang, Crâne Cru (Rawhead) dont la drogue et la prostitution sont le gagne-pain. Concentré sur ce dernier, Rorschach fait l’erreur d’en laisser un autre sévir impunément… Le barde.
Ma critique
Quand j'ai appris que le mode de la série que j'adore depuis tant d'années allait avoir un préquel, j'ai attendu avec impatience la sortie. Mais quelle déception de découvrir la série consacrée à Rorschach!
Le style graphique est très bien adapté et illustre avec brio le côté sordide, mais je n'arrive pas à raccrocher Before Watchmen - Rorschach à la série originale Watchmen… Non pas que le scénario soit incohérent au niveau de la chronologie ou du personnage, mais ces quatre albums dédiés à Rorschach n'apportent absolument rien, si ce n'est la brève rencontre entre Walter Kovacs et la serveuse Nancy.
Bref, la série Before Watchmen nous apporte quelques belles surprises, mais manque sérieusement de consistance, certains albums éclairant sous un jour nouveau certains pans de l'histoire, d'autres étant totalement inutiles comme ceux dédiés à Rorschach.
