Selon ZDNet, Paul Randle, le chef produit Windows pour l'Angleterre aurait annoncé l'intention de Microsoft de diffuser près d'un million de CD gratuits du Service Pack 2 à travers l'Angleterre.
Il est possible que la politique de diffusion de Microsoft France soit similaire.

La taille des versions beta avoisine les 250Mo, mais l’interview fait mention d'une taille de fichier comprise entre 80 et 120Mo pour la distribution du Service Pack 2.

La date de sortie du SP2 serait prévue selon les sources entre le 21 juillet, et le 10 ou 12 août.

Il ressort de plus de cette interview quelques informations sur la prochaine version 5.0 de Windows Update qui fera son apparition en même temps que le Service Pack 2.
Les téléchargements interrompus pourront être repris, et une occupation d'au maximum 40% de la bande passante serait déterminée pour la mises à jour qui pourra se faire en arrière plan.

Microsoft a annoncé le report de la sortie du Service Pack 2 pour Windows XP. Normalement attendu pour la mi-juillet, sa publication serait reportée au mois d'août.
