Le commandant Patrick Fitzgerald Merrywhistle est un officier de marine britannique apparaissant dans la bande dessinée Valérian et Laureline.
Il y commande le navire météo sur lequel embarquent l'équipe menée par le Superintendant des Services de l'Espace-Temps, Valérian et Laureline.
Il possède tous les attributs traditionnellement associés au marin anglais (casquette typique, barbe rousse et pipe), et son attitude, si elle peut sembler quelque peu caricaturale, correspond parfaitement au rôle qui lui est donné dans Les Foudres d'Hypsis.
Au moment du naufrage de son bâtiment, lorsqu'il se retrouve avec ses hommes à bord des canots de sauvetage mis à leur disposition, il demande en outre (en parfait sujet de Sa Majesté) si le thé est prêt.
