Une icône apparaît dans la barre de notification de Windows XP quand vous connectez un périphérique USB.
Vous pouvez arrêter votre matériel en cliquant sur cette icône pour le débrancher sans risque. C'est super pour un memorystick USB mais pas pour un périphérique que vous ne débranchez (une souris, un joystick, une caméra.

Procédure pour la cacher:

cliquez avec le bouton droit de la souris sur la barre des tâches puis sur la commande Propriétés.
cliquez sur le bouton Personnaliser.
Dans la liste des éléments, sélectionnez Retirer le périphérique en toute sécurité et cliquez sur Toujours Masquer dans la colonne Comportement.
Validez par OK.
