Mélancolie

At the train station, Eric's wife doesn't understand why he has to leave, but she lets him go. Eric recalls how he met Brigitte in a cave six months earlier while he was attending an archaeology convention. She talked of having him help her fight the menaces she faced, but wouldn't tell him what she meant. She told him that she would tell him everything when he came back. He promised he would return and after the convention ended, he could not forget her sweetness and defenselessness. Now when he does return, he discovers that she had been ill for a long time and he has returned too late.
