Deux grandes notions sont importantes à maîtriser dans la gestion des accès aux ressources :
- L'accès en local sur la machine (permissions NTFS).
- L'accès depuis le réseau (partages).
Les permissions NTFS s'appliquent aussi bien aux fichiers qu'aux dossiers.
Les permissions NTFS sont indépendantes du réseau. Elles font partie du système d'exploitation même de la machine. Elles protègent donc également tous les fichiers et dossiers locaux, et non pas seulement les ressources partagées en réseau.
Les groupes
Les groupes permettent une gestion plus aisée des utilisateurs. En effet, il suffit d'ajouter un utilisateur dans tel ou tel groupe afin qu'il bénéficie des privilèges de ce groupe.
La gestion des groupes peut se faire sous NT4 par le User manager for Domain.
