Après avoir enlevé un enfant et préparé sa mise en scène, le Comédien enfile un déguisement de Juge Masqué, et se fait intentionnellement voir et suivre par le Hibou.
En suivant celui qu’il croit être le Juge Masqué, le Hibou découvre une scène horrible : le jeune Tino attaché sur la table, les yeux bandés, en slip, entouré d’instruments de torture et de vivisection. Ensuite, il est tabassé par celui qu’il croit toujours être le Juge Masqué. lorsqu’il reprend conscience, le bourreau a fui, laissant l’enfant indemne.
Le Comédien, auteur de cette mise en scène, espère que le Hibou de ce fait le mènera au vrai Juge Masqué qui a disparu.
