Si vous êtes à la recherche d'une chaîne de caractère sur tout votre disque dur, vous aurez vite fait d'y passer la nuit tellement l'opération manuelle est longue.

Pour vous faciliter la tâche, Linux intègre un petit utilitaire appelé find.
Pour l'utiliser, ouvrez une fenêtre xterm (ou passez en mode console) puis tapez la commande suivante :

find / -name '*' | xargs grep -l chaîne_à_rechercher



Appuyez ensuite sur Entrée pour valider et lancer la recherche.
