Elle est le chef-lieu de la municipalité de San Andrés Tuxtla, qui appartient à la région administrative de Los Tuxtlas
Elle est proche des villes de Catemaco, Hueyapan de Ocampo, Santiago Tuxtla et Ángel Rosario Cabada.
