La société japonaise annonce des résultats meilleurs que prévus. Pour son premier trimestre fiscal, Nintendo a réalisé un chiffre d’affaires de 82,15 milliards de yens (en baisse de 2 %), assorti d’un résultat net de 22,64 milliards de yens (en hausse de 98 %). Le bénéfice d’exploitation atteint 17,47 milliards de yens (157 millions de dollars), à comparer aux 7,25 milliards de l’année précédente à la même époque. Nintendo table sur un chiffre d’affaires annuel de 530 milliards de yens et un résultat net de 70 milliards de yens.

Nintendo a par ailleurs confirmé le nom de sa prochaine console portable : la DS. Un nom qui évoque bien le « dual screen » la caractérisant, estime le fabriquant japonais. L’arrivée de la DS est confirmée pour la fin d’année au Japon et aux Etats-Unis. En Europe, il faudra attendre quelques mois de plus.
