Le village est baigné par le ru de Guiry et situé dans le parc naturel régional du Vexin français.

Le nom de la localité est mentionné sous les formes Wadincurtis, Guadencort, Gadengort et Guadencourt en 1249.
Du nom germanique wado et du latin cortem (domaine).
