Géographie
Le village est situé à quelques kilomètres de la ville de Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, une des sous-préfectures de la Savoie.
Toponymie
En francoprovençal, le nom de la commune s'écrit Vlâgondrène, selon la graphie de Conflans[1].
Histoire
La bulle pontificale de Lucius III, de l'année 1184, confirme la juridiction épiscopale de Maurienne sur dix-sept paroisses dont Villargondran[1].
