Où l'on voit… Comment Voltaire est impliqué, malgré lui, dans un complot contre le Régent. Comment, pour éviter la Bastille, il est confiné dans un château où il rencontre une jeune et jolie aspirante comédienne qui lui donne amour et chagrin. L'enlèvement du Régent s'organise au château de Sceaux. Comment et pourquoi Voltaire se retrouve enfermé à la Bastille. Comment il finit par en sortir et comment Œdipe, finalement joué à la Comédie- Française, est un succès et un scandale.
