Le Capitaine Mueller cache un lourd secret. Plus jeune, il fut le collaborateur d'Otto Bakler, célèbre archéologue à la recherche du secret des Cathares. Ce dernier avait préféré le suicide plutôt que de révéler ses informations au Führer. Mueller jouerait-il à double face ? Reprendrait-il le travail de son mentor ?
