Tolliver se cherche un employé respectable qui lui servirait de liaison avec George Hearst. Le conflit se durcit lorsque Dority et le Capitaine Turner tentent de régler leurs différends. Pendant ce temps, Bullock tente de s'interposer dans le conflit qui oppose Steve et Hostetler. Mais un nouveau meurtre à Deadwood l'oblige une fois encore à se confronter à Hearst. Trixie s'étonne du comportement étrange d'Alma à la banque. La relation entre Ellsworth et Alma évolue pendant que Langrishe accueille de nouveaux arrivants de sa troupe de théâtre.
