Bill Gates a confirmé son intention d'intégrer les fonctions P2P de Groove au sein des prochaines versions d'Office et de Windows (Longhorn) attendues pour l'année prochaine. Il dispose ainsi de la dernière brique technologique qui manquait à ses solutions de collaboration : le peer-to-peer.

Selon Joe Wilcox, analyste chez Jupiter Media:
La technologie poste à poste (P2P) de Virtual Office est un parfait complément à la ligne de produits collaboratifs de Microsoft. Car l'avantage de Groove est de pouvoir créer des groupes de travail virtuels de manière ad-hoc et décentralisée, traversant les firewall de différentes entreprises, et via des communications cryptées et sécurisées. Le tout sans installer de serveur.
