Saint patron éponyme de nombreux lieux se rattachant à plusieurs saints, mais la majorité se situe autour du massif alpin

Marque la dévotion à saint Ours d'Aoste qui est un prêtre irlandais du VIe siècle principalement invoqué lors de naissances d'enfants morts sans avoir reçu le sacrement du baptême, et aussi pour protéger des rhumatismes

Il semble cependant que l'origine irlandaise soit une légende

Selon celle-ci, avant d'être évêque vénéré, saint Ours aurait évangélisé longtemps dans le département des Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
