Max Baumstein, 60 ans, président d'une association de lutte pour les droits de l'homme, est emprisonné pour le meurtre de l'ambassadeur du Paraguay. Celui-ci est, en réalité, un ex-dignitaire nazi, assassin de son père, puis de ses tuteurs et amis. Sur fond de Seconde Guerre mondiale, le sexagénaire nous livre son histoire, son drame et les raisons de son acte.
