Albator était jadis un officier de l'armée. À bord de son vaisseau l'Arcadia, il a provoqué le soulèvement des forces alliées avant de disparaître du système solaire. Devenu une véritable légende après un siècle d'errance, son but reste mystérieux et lorsque son vaisseau réapparaît tel un vaisseau fantôme, de nombreuses questions resurgissent. Pourquoi Albator est-il devenu un pirate ? Pourquoi l'homme à la profonde cicatrice s'est-il révolté contre le gouvernement ? Que va-t-il faire à présent ?
