Thad Merkel invente une machine pour produire en masse des copies d'objets comme des voitures et des avions, mais la machine semble avoir son propre esprit enfantin. Cet aspect ludique aide l'inventeur à arrêter un groupe de voleurs, mais l'idée d'une machine consciente de soi est trop dangereuse et Merkel détruit son circuit principal.
