Sledgehammer
Le core Sledgehammer est particulier dans le sens où il n'a été présent qu'avec le FX-51 et FX-53 sur socket 940. Le FX-53 sur socket 939 embarquait en effet un core Clawhammer. Le Sledgehammer est en réalité le core des Opteron, ce qu’étaient les FX-51 et 53 sur socket 940. Ils géraient en effet la mémoire en double canal mais nécessitaient de la mémoire registered, très coûteuse. En réalité, les Athlon 64 sur core 940 ont été lancés principalement pour dès avoir dès le départ un processeur très performant et labellisé Athlon 64. En termes d’images, le pari fut réussi puisque ces Opteron renommés faisaient un malheur dans les benchmarks. Les processeurs dotés de ce core ont donc été les suivants :
  • Athlon 64 FX-51 2.2 GHz socket 940

  • Athlon 64 FX-53 2.4 GHz socket 940
