- Le phishing (aussi appelé brand spoofing ou carding) est une usurpation d'identité.
Ce terme désigne la technique employée quand une personne malhonnête copie un site ou un portail existant (par exemple le site d’une institution bancaire). Une fois la copie réalisée, du spam (courrier non sollicité) est envoyé, incitant les clients à se rendre sur la contrefaçon pour remettre à jour certains renseignements personnels. L'internaute ainsi dupé laisse numéros de téléphone, de sécurité sociale, de compte bancaire et parfois de carte de crédit.
Les escrocs peuvent ensuite tirer parti de ces informations.
