Les objets peuvent être déplacés d'un O.U. à un autre dans Active Directory.

Cela nous pose un problème si nous nous préoccupons du DN (Distinguished Name), qui dans DNS comprend les branches de la structure hiérarchique dans laquelle se trouve l'objet.

Reprenons notre exemple de deux organisational unit (OU1 et OU2 dans DomainA) :

Si nous créons un objet userB dans l'O.U.1, son RDN sera userB, mais son DN sera userB.OU1.DomainA
Si nous le déplaçons dans l'O.U.2, son RDN est inchangé (userB), mais son DN devient userB.OU2.DomainA

Si d'autres contrôleurs dans notre domaine désirent atteindre userB.OU1.DomainA, ils doivent savoir qu'il se nomme à présent userB.OU2.DomainA.

Le rôle Infrastructure Master est donc de gérer et répercuter les modifications apportées dans le domaine.

AttentionCe rôle est particulier, car il ne peut être assumé par le contrôleur de domaine qui supporte le rôle de Global Catalog.
Les deux rôles sont assez proches, et une confusion serait possible au moment des réplications.
