Méthode de contrôle des erreurs de transmission sur réseau, basée sur une valeur numérique dérivant d'une formule mathématique appliquée aux données qu'elle accompagne.
La même formule est appliquée une fois les données reçue, et la valeur obtenue est comparée à celle reçue. En cas de différence, la retransmission des données est demandée.

Sous architecture réseau FDDI, zone d'une trame de données indiquant la séquence numérique permettant de vérifier l'intégrité de la trame.
