  1. Graphisme : Dessin Assisté par Ordinateur.
    Il s'agit du dessin artistique, et non pas du dessin technique (on parle alors de CAO).

  2. Bases de données : Bibliothèques de 17 objets de chez Microsoft permettant de développer des programmes avec accès à une base de données. DAO utilise le moteur de base de données Jet de Microsoft permettant d’accéder à une variété de formats de bases comme Access, ISAM ou texte.
    En outre, par l’ODBC et grâce à son modèle d’objet ODBCDirect, DAO permet de se connecter à des bases comme Informix, Oracle ou SQL Server.
