Cet objet curieux, dont la légende a été répandue par les marins romins au temps des Deux Empires, est aujourd’hui plus souvent mentionné par les plaisantins que par les chasseurs de trésors. Il s’agirait d’un coquillage, du type giron d’Echora, où un démon aurait enfermé la voix d’une femme jugée trop bavarde. Mais même cette malédiction n’avait réussi à faire taire la malheureuse, et l’on dit que tous ceux qui entrent en possession de la relique, une fois leur curiosité assouvie, cherchent à s’en débarrasser tant ce babil incessant est difficile à endurer.
