- Carte vidéo, ou carte graphique. Carte qui se connecte sur la carte mère de l’ordinateur, et qui permet de traiter les informations concernant l'affichage afin de les envoyer au(x) moniteur(s). Initialement, la carte graphique servait uniquement a traiter l'affichage. Avec la généralisation de la 3D, la carte graphique soulage le processeur pour le traitement des calculs 3D.
La carte graphique se compose d’un processeur graphique (GPU), souvent d’une mémoire de travail propre (ou alors elle partage la mémoire de l’ordinateur), d’un convertisseur analogique/numérique (RAMDAC).
