- La Base de Registre correspond à la base de données des systèmes d'exploitation Windows (apparue avec Windows 95) contenant des informations relatives à l'ordinateur et à sa configuration : équipement matériel, pilotes installés, configuration du bureau, paramètres de configuration des applications.
Tout comme les fichiers, les entrées de la base de registres sont organisées en répertoires, sous-répertoires, sous-sous-répertoires etc... appelés clés.
