Né en 1979 à Manille aux Philippines, Francis Manapul vit et travaille à Toronto, au Canada. Il publie son premier comics, intitulé Love in Tights, en novembre 1998. Dessinateur régulier de Witchblade (du N°48 au N°75), il laisse ensuite sa place à Mike Choi. Il réalise entre temps quelques numéros de la série The Darkness et Tomb Raider. Il se consacre en 2005 à The Necromancer, mini-série qu'il crée avec le scénariste Joshua Ortega pour l'éditeur Top Cow.
