Graphiste de formation, c'est au CFT Gobelins section Décors et design pour l'animation que Sébastien Gérard achève ses études par un stage dans les studios de Walt Disney à Montreuil. À la suite de cela, il est contacté par un dessinateur pour travailler avec lui sur un album aux éditions Vents d'Ouest, qui lui préféreront finalement un coloriste maison pratiquant des couleurs davantage "dans l'esprit" de leur production. Cette expérience lui permet néanmoins de rencontrer Alain David {directeur de collection chez Casterman et Vents d'Ouest) et de partir officier pour Casterman sur Premières Chaleurs (tome 1 en 2001 et tome 2 en 2002; dessin et scénario Jean-Philippe Peyraud). Après avoir été contacté par Nicolas Forsans (directeur de collection aux Humanoïdes Associés), Sébastien Gérard travaille aujourd'hui sur plusieurs séries, dont El Nino, Bouncer et John Lord.
