Histoire
En 1973, Tyrvää et Karkku fusionnent avec Vammala. Suodenniemi a rejoint Vammala en 2007.
Sastamala est créée le par la réunion des municipalités d'Äetsä, Mouhijärvi et Vammala.
Kiikoinen rejoint le nouveau Sastamala en 2013.
Le , la commune de Kiikoinen a fusionné avec la ville de Sastamala.
Géographie
Sastamala est située dans la province de Finlande-Occidentale, dans la région du Pirkanmaa.
